OUR APPROACH

The Anima Care approach enables veterinary clinics to create end-of-life services just like any other healthcare service.

We offer training for vets and vet specialist assistants and a range of consumables and communication tools. End-of-life management in a veterinary clinic has 6 stages. The aim of this process is to help the family return to the veterinary clinic with the best possible memory, that of a caring, attentive team that understands the bond between them and their pet.

PROGNOSIS

During this consultation, the veterinary team informs families that they should start thinking about the end-of-life of their pet. This consultation is very emotionally charged, often more so when children are present. Families may find it difficult to remember the different information and the choices they have to make. A family support booklet and the Sacha et Gribouille comic strip can help families make these decisions.

WELCOMING FAMILIES
TO THE CLINIC

Ensuring privacy and comfort for families during the final appointment allows families to experience this difficult moment in the best way they can. Installing a lamp in reception that informs visitors when a euthanasia process is taking place contributes to the tranquillity of the clinic. Fitting doorhangers and do not disturb signs on doors where the euthanasia is taking place will reassure the family that they won’t be disturbed during their remembrance.

END-OF-LIFE CONSULTATION
AND EUTHANASIA

Families are able to be present while we place the body in the Euthabag so they can observe the respect we pay to the body, as per the values of the clinic. The family can then close the cover and give their pet a meaningful goodbye. The waterproof and ergonomic cover is also used for the preservation and transport of the body until the funeral.

REMEMBRANCE AND
LEAVING THE CLINIC

The family’s farewell is their final moment with their pet. Sometimes certain items can act as a physical reminder of their pet, which in turn can help them heal. Lalæ pouches that can hold a tuft of hair, or sympathy boxes that are used to store the pet’s belongings, are some of the things the clinic can offer customers.

STAYING IN TOUCH

Sending a sympathy message to the family within 5 days of the death of their pet helps to maintain the bond between the family and the clinic. Sympathy cards are a true expression of your empathy and the values of your clinic, and over 65% of families send a response back to the clinic. Sympathy cards are a link between the clinic and the family after the death of their pet.

RETURNING THE ASHES

Families who opt for a cremation and retrieval of the ashes return to the clinic to collect them, a place filled with intense memories. Returning the ashes in complete confidentiality, in a quiet place, sometimes by appointment, allows your teams to maintain the connection with them.

The aim of this process is to help the family return to the veterinary clinic with the best possible memory, that of a caring, attentive team that understands the bond between them and their pet.
